What is the historical support that legitimizes our desire to participate actively in the Christianization of France ?

It is important to know that in the history of nations there are strong moments, decisive encounters between people and God. Take the example of Scotland in the 16th century. A certain John Knox, a reformer, made this bold prayer: "God, give me Scotland where I die". This man's engagement with God had repercussions on his nation's conflict with England, which caused the queen at the time to say that she feared Knox's prayers more than the armies of Scotland.

What about France? Do we have an equally powerful reference in our history?

Yes, we have Clovis, the first Frankish king.

On December 25, 496, 498, 499 or even 508, according to historians, Clovis was baptized in the cathedral church of Reims by Bishop Rémi. He was the first king who became a Christian. 3000 of his soldiers were baptized after him.

What is special is that Rémi, called Saint Rémi, received and communicated to Clovis an extraordinary prophecy : “My son, the kingdom of France is predestined by God to defend the Church of Christ, our Lord. This kingdom will be great among all the kingdoms of the earth. As long as he is faithful to his calling, he will be victorious. If he proves unfaithful to it, he will be severely punished. It will last until the end of time."

From these events, a national profession of faith was born. We began to speak of "the nation of the Franks, illustrious, having God for founder" and to proclaim: "Long live Christ who loves the Franks". This is how the future kings of France took the oath at the time of their coronation.

The foundations of a nation-state in the making were laid from that moment on. The Gauls will first become Francia then France.

The strength of this founding prophecy invites us to paraphrase the famous inscription on the cross of Christ : INRI Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews - By writing it INRF: Jesus of Nazareth King of the Franks (of France)

Christ the King, this should challenge us. This questions our vision of “secularism”. Jesus is not calling to let this nation become an atheist, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or anything else. “There is no secularism in heaven”. There is one unique God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Let's proclaim out loud :

Long live Christ Jesus who is the true King of France. We love you ! "

Maranatha !
